Assistant Director, Education
Reporting to the Senior Director of Education and Youth Engagement, the Assistant Director of Education supports the strategic direction of TeachUNICEF and manages the development of educational resources that increase global citizenship and raise awareness of UNICEF’s work.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to)**:**
- Supervise the Manager of School Content, who develops instructional resources and communications to support the UNICEF Kid Power program and other key USF school-based initiatives
- Supervise the Outreach and Communications Officer, who manages website content and social media outreach, and engages in school recruitment activities
- Support the development of the departmental strategic direction, including participation in strategic planning sessions and key organizational meetings
- Oversee the strategy for resource development and manage the development of instructional materials for TeachUNICEF.org
- Drive the development of two editions of UNICEF ACT student magazines per year, including management of internal and external partners/consultants, editorial work, web content development, and marketing and distribution of magazines
- Represent the Education Department at internal and external meetings and conferences, and present on the work of the department as needed
- Develop professional development workshops and programs, and conduct them with educator audiences as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education preferred
- Five to seven years of experience in the field of education, children’s publishing, and/or international development; classroom or school-based experience a plus
- Understanding of current trends in education in the United States and knowledge of the global education and human rights fields
- Experience supervising and managing staff members
- Demonstrated strong writing and content development skills for youth audiences
- Demonstrated strong program development and project management experience
- Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams to achieve goals and ensure organizational support for identified initiatives
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills
- Availability for occasional domestic travel and work in evenings or on weekends
