Purpose of the Position:

Under the direct supervision of the ICT Officer, senior Help Desk Assistant is to provide ICT support for users in JCO office(s), ensuring that effective and efficient solutions are provided to all incidents and queries on ICT operations and services. The incumbent performs user-administration and provides day to day end-user support to UNICEF Jordan in the area of IT and Telecommunications. In addition, the incumbent communicates with users and ICT Management, and escalates incidents as required to MENARO and GSSC. The post also maintains inventory of the ICT equipment and supplies in close coordination with the administration unit.

Key expected results:

Errors in the operation of the office multi-user network and other critical ICT systems (ERP, messaging etc) can significantly disrupt the work effectiveness of the office.

Key Accountabilities, Duties and tasks:

  • Provide timely and effective end user assistance to the staff members in operation of UNICEF standard computer applications and equipment, and resolve day to day hardware/software problems.

  • Assist in administration of Multi-user Network, File/Print Services, Office 365 / Outlook, INTERNET and INTRANET services

  • Maintain inventory of ICT assets (Hardware and software) in close collaboration with the JCO Administration Unit.

  • Provides offsite ICT support to UNICEF events i.e. meetings, workshops, seminars etc.

  • Provide day to day user support in support of Business Continuity and Remote Operation / events.

  • Performs duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications of Successful candidates:

Education: Completed secondary education supplemented by training through university courses in computer science. Computer literacy and ability to effectively use standard office software, tools and technologies. A first University Degree in Computer/Information System Management will be an asset.

Experience: Seven years practical professional work experience in information technology, as well as systematic methods of troubleshooting and analytical problem solving, providing assistance to users on ICT products and services, and use of applications and diagnostic tools. Practical experience with various computer platforms and applications: operating systems, email and database systems, Microsoft Office product suites, Help Desk software, advanced PC/laptop/printer installation, configuration, troubleshooting and repairs.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Arabic
