Director, Corporate Partnership Development
Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships, and working closely with the Partnership Management and Development Teams, the Director is focused on generating revenue and increasing revenue generating capabilities of UNICEF USA Corporate Partnership Team. This position will be based in our Northwest Regional Office located in San Francisco, CA.
This is a three-year grant-funded position.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Under the leadership of the Senior Director, Corporate Partnership Development, support the organizational plan for mapping, researching, prospecting and securing six-seven figure+ corporate prospects across all sectors.
Under the leadership of the Senior Director, Corporate Partnership Development, pitch and secure $5,000,000+ in global partnerships within the Northwest region, including facilitating meetings, developing pitch materials, and prospect stewardship.
Lead and implement team adoption of revenue generating and customer fundraising platforms.
Build a pipeline of desirable prospects and develop company-specific approach plans, which could include philanthropic/foundation grants, cause marketing, customer fundraising, sponsorship of UNICEF USA campaigns, employee engagement, and where appropriate, may also include non-revenue activities in support of the partnership (such as CSR engagement, expertise sharing, etc.).
Secure meetings, in conjunction with UNICEF USA staff and national/regional boards, build relationships with key prospect contacts, build strategic stewardship activities and lead new partnership discussions, including development of partnership propositions.
Work closely with UNICEF colleagues, and work to ensure partnership terms are in compliance with UNICEF processes and guidelines.
Lead the negotiation of agreement terms and develop contracts.
Ensure relationships are built at all levels of the company, but especially with key senior corporate contacts to help advance relationships.
Work closely with the Corporate Partnerships team, Marketing & Communications, Major Gifts, other UNICEF USA departments, and with UNICEF to leverage all company assets in an effort to initiate innovative ideas and maximize opportunities.
Work closely with the Corporate Partnership Management team in order to ensure a smooth transition once contracts are signed.
Lead meetings and liaise with corporate prospects, with UNICEF headquarters, National Committees and Country Offices, and internally with other UNICEF USA departments.
Represent UNICEF USA in meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in partnership development or strategic partnerships role; mix of corporate and non-profit experience preferred.
Proven track record generating new revenue or successfully managing strategic partnerships.
Experience in cause marketing, international development, shared value, and/or CSR a plus.
Significant relationship building; ability to build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and styles, and experience working with contacts at all levels of Fortune 500 companies, including presenting to senior-level decision makers and influences across business units and functions, including foundation contacts, as well as marketing/PR contacts.
Ability to juggle multiple relationship building and partnership development and negotiation with several large, complex companies at one time.
Ability to lead internal and external meetings.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize while working under multiple deadlines.
Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills; ability to effectively collect, analyze, organize, distill and present information.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to travel to domestic and international developing country locations required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint.
Understanding and experience with the stages of partnership development, from qualifying, exploratory conversations, strategic proposal development, negotiations and contracting.
