Manager, Foundation Partnerships
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is seeking a Manager to support its portfolio of partners and grants within the Foundation Partnerships team.
Foundation Partnerships works with leading U. S. private foundations and institutions in support of various cross-cutting areas of UNICEF’s work, including Child Health, Polio Eradication, Institutional Strengthening, Water/Sanitation & Hygiene, Education, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change, Child Protection & Social Inclusion, Advocacy (Domestic & Global), Public-Private Partnerships and other Special Initiatives based on UNICEF’s and USF’s common mission of saving and improving the lives of children worldwide.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Reporting to the Director, the Manager will assist in securing, managing and growing grants/grant-based initiatives that effectively leverage leading global health and development partners in support of UNICEF’s program and advocacy goals. The Manager serves as a point of contact with multiple partners for specific projects that include U.S. private foundations and other global development stakeholders, coordinating internal and external resources to ensure that grant-funded programs managed by the U.S. Fund are effectively executed and partners’ needs are fully met. In addition, the Manager is responsible for cultivating relationships and identifying opportunities that can be leveraged to broaden and deepen support for UNICEF’s efforts on behalf of the world’s children.
The Manager, Foundation Partnerships will:
Support the development of Foundation grant solicitation and stewardship documents, including grant proposals, budgets, reports, and, to support on critical team-wide activity as appropriate.
Identify and help develop new strategic and collaborative funding opportunities/initiatives with current and potential partners.
Contribute to grants development/grants management, develop and manage grant agreements, sub-awards and contracts for non-UNICEF implementing partners.
Participate in executing partner engagement opportunities per the programmatic work areas defined above, in coordination with the Foundation Partnerships Engagement Strategy.
Support the Foundation Partnerships team’s development and implementation of its annual growth strategy.
Grants Management
Serve as administrative and financial manager over the lifetime of assigned projects, tracking implementation progress, funds utilization and progress toward achievement of project milestones and results.
Ensure timely receipt of project deliverables and required reports; prepare and submit consolidated reports to funders and other internal and external stakeholders on the progress of UNICEF’s partnerships with foundations.
Develop and manage sub-grant agreements and contracts for non-UNICEF implementing partners; draft and approve scopes of work, budgets, and reporting forms.
Conduct due diligence to identify legal, procedural and financial issues for potential grants prior to proposal submission/approval, and over the life of multi-year grant-funded projects.
Operations
Maintain and update as necessary information about Foundation-funded programs in USF’s grants management database; track and document key phases in the life cycle of funded programs, including proposal development, funds receipt and transfer, execution of grant and sub-award agreements, and report development and submission.
Liaise with USF finance and compliance personnel to resolve any legal, procedural or financial issues regarding grants, sub-grants and contracts.
Actively support and collaborate in team efforts to continually improve its operational procedures.
Business Development
Conduct research, analyze data and develop presentations to help formulate partnership strategies and identify partners and relationships that will serve the organization’s mission and goals.
Represent USF at meetings and conferences to remain appraised of global health and development trends and issues and explore new opportunities for engagement.
Cultivate new grant opportunities with multiple U. S. foundation partners and other key internal/external stakeholders.
Support communication efforts to engage with current and prospective partners under the Foundation Partnerships business development strategy (e.g., manage outreach to partners, liaise with and coordinate internal stakeholder groups as needed).
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree strongly preferred in international development, international relations, global/public health, public policy/advocacy, economics or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, with a focus on U. S. private foundation grants cultivation and management desired, and including at least 2 – 3 years’ experience of successfully achieving funding for/administering large-scale projects.
Familiarity with current global health and development issues, and UN agencies preferred.
Ability to contribute to proposals, reports, research and presentations that are client-ready and reflect analytical thinking, creativity and a clear understanding of both the prospective partner’s requirements and USF’s programs and assets.
Proven ability to prioritize; work independently; handle multiple, complex tasks simultaneously; and to generate pragmatic solutions to real or potential problems and recognize and leverage key opportunities.
Ability to navigate complex environments, and help build relationships with a variety of stakeholders and institutions strongly preferred.
Strong “client service” orientation and interpersonal as well as negotiation skills, quantitative and analytical skills, and written/verbal communication skills.
Some travel required, within the U.S. and internationally.
