Manager, Advocacy and Engagement
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Community Mobilization and jointly reporting to the Vice President of the Office of Public Policy and Advocacy in Washington D.C, the Manager will help sustain and deepen the U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s advocacy work with supporters around the country.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Work across USF departments and regional offices to integrate the Office of Public Policy and Advocacy’s (OPPA) work and direction into advocacy activities throughout the year.
Manage advocacy and engagement project planning and monitor key milestones to advance strategic objectives.
Help prepare for and track interactions of USF supporters with Members of Congress.
Working with the OPPA on direction and content, develop and facilitate monthly national Congressional Action team (CAT) meetings and guest speakers.
Partner with USF regional offices and departments across the organization to recruit, train, deploy and supervise CAT members, currently in 13 cities.
Develop and implement a Training of Trainers program for CAT leaders.
Assist with the launch of new CATs in cities identified by OPPA.
Manage logistics, scheduling and training to prepare USF supporters to participate in Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill.
Develop and disseminate online and offline recruitment materials and educational content related to advocacy initiatives for UNICEF supporters.
Develop and manage external partnerships with like-minded organizations to advance shared advocacy goals.
Manage two part-time USF Global Citizenship Fellow Advocacy Leads.
Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years relevant experience with advocacy activation and/or volunteer management in a non-profit or related field.
Experience influencing the policy and practice of governments by managing campaigns, advocacy strategy and/or lobby days a plus. Experience working with Congressional Offices also a plus.
Strong interpersonal and networking skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise and build relationships with diverse stakeholders and institutions.
Ability to navigate complex and changing environments.
Experience planning, developing and managing projects or events. The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while consistently meeting deadlines is essential.
Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and generate pragmatic solutions to address potential road blocks as well as leverage key opportunities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
Demonstrated ability to develop online and offline recruitment materials and educational content.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; must be skilled internet researcher.
